Neil is #64 on Whitney Matheson’s countdown of the top 100 people of 2003 according to today’s USAToday.com; this is the entry for him:

64. Neil Gaiman. I’m ashamed to admit this, but I hadn’t experienced Gaiman’s Sandman series of graphic novels until this year – when the 11th book came out. Some advice for anyone else new to the story: Don’t read it before you go to bed.

Which doesn’t really explain if Endless Nights shouldn’t be read before bed because it will scare you silly or shouldn’t be read before bed because you will not be able to put it down. Perhaps it’s a bit of both.
